HOW DID YOU COME TO WORK WITH OUR COMPANY? TELL US YOUR STORY.

While working at La Costa Resort & Spa for KSL Resorts, a recruiter contacted me about a corporate revenue management role at Tarsadia Hotels. Having been a student of the industry, I knew that Tarsadia, a small family investment group, managed the 1000+ room Anaheim Marriott, but not much more. The interview process was a bit lengthy, lasting over several months, but during the process I learned much more about the company. I was attracted by the intelligence of the people working there, the strong culture that was evident even in the interview process, and the diversity of hotels in the portfolio. I couldn’t resist the draw and was hired, and have loved every minute since.

THINGS YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR JOB OR WORKING FOR EVOLUTION HOSPITALITY

Evolution Hospitality grew out of Tarsadia but the things that first attracted me have never changed. I still enjoy working with incredibly smart and emotionally intelligent individuals who care deeply about making it better. Managing a diverse array of hotels allows me the ability to implement best practices from all asset types and brands, learning from each. Best of all, Evolution Hospitality is a true Southern California company: Working hard to accomplish goals goes hand-in-hand with having fun in an incredible environment, and no one takes themselves too seriously.

FAVORITE GUIDING PRINCIPLE: TEST IT, DON’T BE AFRAID TO FAIL.

In 2007 I was promoted to Vice President of Revenue Management and was recently promoted again to Senior Vice President of Operations. In both roles, the Guiding Principle “Test it, don’t be afraid to fail” is my favorite. I feel by focusing on innovation in every discipline, the team will organically make it better than it was before.

MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT YOU THAT’S NOT WORK-RELATED

In 2014 I survived stage four Burkitt lymphoma. Now I enjoy giving back to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by chairing the Orange County Light the Night Walk and fundraising via my team, Cancer Crushers.
